The Only Organizational Tool You Need to Prepare for the New Year

I always dread the approach of January.  It’s like the hangover after the high of the holiday season. January is cold, dark, long, and there aren’t any celebrations to look forward to… it’s the most blah month of the year for me.  However, I am trying to be optimistic this year and find the positive in January.

I stumbled across an article the other day about hygge.  Pronounced hue-gah, it’s the Danish idea that winter should be enjoyable, cozy, and social.  Delicious scented candles, fuzzy blankets, good movies, playing games with friends and snuggling with my baby?  I can get behind that.

I’m also going to use January to be productive and make plans for the upcoming year.  I downloaded Susannah Conway’s “Unravel Your Year” workbook and did a little goal setting for 2017.  I seriously can’t believe she’s giving this workbook away for free.  It’s 37 pages of high quality writing prompts that allow you to reflect on your previous year and plan for the new one.  For you right-brainers, there are also lots of opportunities to draw and explore in a more organic way.  I really can’t say enough about this resource.

It’s the only organizational tool you need to prepare for the new year.

Some of my personal takeaways after completing the workbook:

2016 was a great year for me, personally.  I turned 30!  I went to Amsterdam!  I saw Adele in concert!  After leaving my career in teaching last year to be a stay-at-home-mom, I was feeling a little self-conscious and inadequate.  My daughter turned one this year and I finally feel confident enough to say that I am an awesome mommy, and I love having the opportunity to stay home with her.

Looking forward, my focus word for 2017 is persistence.  I know there will be challenges and setbacks, and I may not accomplish every goal, but I plan to push myself and see things through til the end.

I’ve got some big plans for my blog in 2017.

  • build stronger connections with other bloggers

In my personal life I want to:

  • read more books.
